Description: The battalion and band, with mounted officers, march along a dirt road. The men rest outside the canteen drinking tea. Others play in a river and millpond, including a friendly game of water-polo. A boxing match, in a ring, ends with a staged knockout. A posed group of men of the battalion "who have been out since 1914" with the battalion mascot dog. A further posed group of officers and men "who have gained decorations during the present war". A pair of transport horses which have been with the battalion since 1914 are awarded a silver cup for good condition.
Probably a regular battalion of the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) on the Western Front, autumn 1917.
